Tuesdays from 12-1 PM
COST: LOVE DONATION (SUGGESTED $25/CLASS), AND DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR LUNCH
An untrained mind can accomplish nothing. The purpose of our time together is to grow our understanding of compassion, pinpointing useful steps in living a compassionate life. Compassion is a lifelong practice of awareness, empathy and forgiveness. This will be a safe place for discovery as we relate our understanding of compassion with each other. We will participate in interactive scenarios to practice and hone your skills. If you want to be ready to navigate successfully in being compassionate and non-violent in your relationships, join this hands-on workshop.
It is possible to reorient the mind, put distance between our thinking selves and the potentially destructive instincts and find peace. Take ownership of our shadow side, and free ourselves from fear.
Empathy through mindfulness.
When you find yourself wanting to avoid another person’s sorrow, remember what it felt like to feel alone with sadness and do not turn away. Practice identifying with small acts of kindness, and discover ways to cultivate the positive emotions that can make us feel better. Lighten another life with acts of friendship.
Recognize and Appreciate the unknown and unknowable. What do you hear and say when criticizing another country? Let go of tribalism, engaging in Socratic dialog. Refuse to condemn others. Remember to keep trying to love selflessly and patiently. Be impartial, fair, calm, gentle, serene, accepting and openhearted.
