The SLCA Spiritual Council is comprised of 5-6 individuals, who, on a rotating basis, provide weekly messages, either individually or or collaboratively. We believe that providing different perspectives on spiritual development enables the individual to have a broader and richer spiritual experience. From time-to-time, new Spiritual Council members will be introduced in addition to guest speakers.

Rev. Dr. David Alexander

Rev. Dr. David Alexander was raised in New Thought theology and by age 13, he had his own profound awakening and recognized then that the ministry would be his life path. After graduating from University of New Mexico, he became a licensed Religious Science Practitioner in 1999 and a New Thought minister in 2004. He co-founded the New Thought Center for Spiritual Living in Lake Oswego, where he stil serves as isenior minister.

As a social justice activist, he has been inducted into the Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College, and worked with at-risk youth and has served on the Board of Directors for the Community of Welcoming Congregations, a Portland-based alliance with the mission of ‘providing a voice for LGBTQ and allied people of faith.’ He also serves on the governing board of the Association for Global New Thought, the Leadership Council of Centers for Spiritual Living. He has served as Chairman of the Council and currently is director of Strategic Alliances for the Centers for Spiritual Living.

Rev. David writes a monthly column – ‘Philosophy in Action’ – for Science of Mind magazine. He is a popular speaker and teacher at New Thought churches around the U.S. and Canada and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from the Centers for Spiritual Living in 2014. In 2015 Dr. David was inducted into the College of Bishops and Affirming Faith Leaders by the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries.


Rev. Dr. David Ault

For over 30 years David Ault has been a prophetic voice in the human potential movement as an unwavering crusader for mindfulness, global literacy and social justice. As a teacher, evolutionary coach and keynote presenter, David’s bridges our collective forgetfulness into our great collective reawakening. As an award winning author, leadership coach, and global education advocate, he loves leading through example and abides by the motto that people would rather ‘see a lesson than hear one’.

Besides serving as the leader of the Council, David is the founder of Kaleidoscope Child Foundation, whose mission is to advance vulnerable children and communities worldwide with sustainable education, life skills and fresh water. Beginning more than 14 years ago, Kaleidoscope now operates schools in Siem Reap Cambodia, Bodhgaya and Lakhanpur India and partners with literacy programs throughout Guatemala serving more than 800 children annually.

As a respected teacher, writer and columnist, David is the author of the bestseller, Where Regret Cannot Find Me and the multi-award winning, The Grass Is Greener Right Here.


Dr. Will Coleman

Will Coleman, Ph.D. is a theologian and teacher of Biblical spirituality. A lifelong student, he has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion at Rhodes College in Memphis, a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary, as well as a Doctorate of Philosophy degree (“with distinction”) from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California.

Dr. Coleman’s work represents over 40 years of study and integration of his classical Pentecostal roots, Biblical and Historical scholarship and study, Jewish mysticism, and New Thought / Ancient Wisdom teachings.

Will Coleman teaches and applies principles of Hebrew and Christian Bible study and spirituality for the enrichment of spiritual and psychological health. He also has studied and practiced a wide range of spiritual topics and disciplines within the tradition of the Kabbalah. Biblical spirituality is rooted in the knowledge that the sacred text called the Bible, which originated in Northeast Africa, is much more comprehensive as a guide for transformation of consciousness in the original sounds, symbols and languages of the original Hebrew and Greek texts than in English translations.


Rev. Cynthia James

Cynthia James is a transformational coach guiding people as they make changes for lasting healing in their lives. As a speaker, performing artist and multiple award winning author of I Choose Me: The Art of Being A Phenomenally Successful Woman at Home and at Work (3 times a #1 Bestseller on Amazon) What Will Set You Free and Revealing Your Extraordinary Essence, Cynthia has coached and supported thousands of people worldwide into vibrant living. Her program, Advanced Awareness Coaching, offers depth, focus and results for high level business leaders. In 2014, Cynthia’s Extraordinary Living Foundation was selected to be a Commitment Maker by the Clinton Health Matters Initiative. She serves as minister in Special Ministries at Mile Hi Church in Denver, CO.

Internationally, Cynthia creates and facilitates Inward Journey pilgrimage retreats. She has completed a Masters Degree in Consciousness Studies from Holmes Institute and Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. She and her husband world renowned photographer, Carl Studna, created and co-hosted, Bridging the Gender Gap Teleseries, with the focus on developing trust and understanding between men and women in all areas of life. Mona Shah Joshi

Rev. Annette Mize

Annette Mize is an ordained Interfaith Minister with 25 years of spiritual study and practice in such diverse areas as New Thought, mysticism, metaphysics, Kabbalah, Buddhism, the Occult, and A Course in Miracles. Rev. Annette is a Reiki Master, EFT practitioner, Deep Change SQ21 facilitator, Master Prayer Practitioner and has served several Atlanta area churches since 2006. She holds a vision of a living world populated with awareness, compassion and wisdom and gratefully serves the present moment through mindful thoughts, words, and actions.
