Is it Metaphysics or Quantum Physics
Within the last decade I have lost count of all the times I’ve been asked if I joined a cult. Why? Because I am happier than ever, and because I share my understanding of spiritual principles with anyone who will listen. In short I have become a metaphysical evangelist.
As my journey and my studies have continued to evolve I have become more and more curious about the quantum world, neuroscience, and the realm of cell biology. This has been a game of catch-up, as many of the discoveries are now decades old. What has most amazed, and delighted me is that these three areas of science provide data and understanding, from apparently different perspectives, to support my metaphysical and spiritual beliefs.
I am currently re-reading Gregg Braden’s excellent book, The Spontaneous Healing of Belief: Shattering the Paradigm of False Limits. Having set the scene with stories of spontaneous physical healing, placebo based healings, and micro-biological changes that have been observed in studies based on beliefs, Gregg goes on the summarise his thoughts in this paragraph:
“The results are clear. The implications are mind-boggling. The studies prove that rather than being buffered from our world and the things that make life what it is, we’re intimately connected with everything from the cells of our bodies to the atoms of our world and beyond. Our experience of consciousness expressed as feeling and belief is doing the connecting. The act of us simply looking at our world–projecting the feelings and beliefs that we have as we focus our awareness on the particles that the universe is made of–changes those particles while we’re looking”
For me it is such a gift to be able to see the link between science and spirituality so clearly–they are different sides of the same coin. I think of it as looking at the world through different lenses in the same binoculars. One lens shows the micro level science, the other offers the macro level of metaphysical spirituality. Yet, as we look through the binoculars, all we see is Life.
Thinking about your life, how would it change if you absolutely ‘knew’ that your beliefs and feelings were changing the very atoms of your life second by second?
I have come to realize that although I may comprehend certain things on a mental level, I don’t always believe in them with my heart in such a way that I embody them from minute to minute in my life. For example, I understand that everything in life is made of the same thing–some call it God, some call it Energy or Light. With that understanding, I logically know that I am connected to every thing and every person I interact with and that although we are expressing that same thing in individual body suitcases, we are still one. However, that still doesn’t stop me from sometimes comparing, judging, or otherwise separating myself in some way from the ‘other’ I see before me.
So again I ask you the same question I ask me all the time: “How can I embody the things I know, understand, and believe at an intrinsic level in my life?”
My answer is always the same–keep practicing.
“Practice yourself in little things, and thence proceed to greater.” ~ Epictetus
It is my daily spiritual practices of meditation, affirmative prayer, gratitude, journalling, healthful eating, and contemplation that have been pivotal in getting me to where I am today. I know that as I continue to make these practices my highest priority of everyday, I will continue to grow and evolve. My mission is to live from a constant state of the indwelling presences of Divine Love, and to see only as God sees. I have a feeling I may need a few extra lifetimes to get there, but it’s good to have a goal in life, right.
