Youth Program

Youth1At the Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta, we provide our youth of all ages with a safe and nurturing environment to explore their spirituality and to gain a foundation of practice with universal spiritual principles blended from the world’s religions.

Our youth programs present wonderful ways to grow and nurture the inherent wholeness that exists in our youth.

We create a sacred space where our youth are encouraged to know God through the spiritual practices of:

  • Affirmative Prayer (Spiritual Mind Treatment)
  • Meditation/Affirmations
  • Workshops
  • Service and Community
  • Art, Songs, and Stories
Youth and Teen classes are offered during the
Second Service (11:30 am to 12:30 pm)
every Sunday morning at SLCA.

Our Youth Program Mission

Our Youth Program’s Mission is to provide a spiritual and educational experience, which presents the application of Science of Mind principles and spiritual laws to children, ranging from Nursery to age 12 that allow them to grow in awareness of their oneness with God.

Our Youth (0-12 Yrs.) Curriculum

Youth2
Our Science of Mind curriculum provides the basis for the topic of the day. The curriculum teaches our children what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God. They learn how the creative process works through them. Our youth also learn to recognize themselves as unique and valuable expressions of God. They learn to use the power of their minds and hearts to create only good experiences in their lives.

Key Spiritual Principles taught at SLCA:

  • God is all there is.
  • God and I are one.
  • All thought is creative.
  • It is done as I believe.
  • Heaven is within me.

As we are all expressions of God, we honor all traditions and teach our youth to respect other paths as all paths lead to one God. To reinforce this, we perform the “Lighting the Flames of Faith Ceremony” each month to honor other traditions for their contribution to our overall consciousness.

Our Classes and Instructors:

Nursery – Ages 0 to 3:

Our Nursery offers child care services for infants and toddlers. Parents may bring their infants and toddlers to the Nursery at 11:15 am. The Nursery is located on the first floor of the center in Classroom #2. Our volunteers know that these children are Divine expressions of God and children receive only love while in our care.

Youth Ministry – Ages 4 to 12:

SLCA Teen Mission Statement

The Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta Teens gather in a supportive atmosphere to learn about life and Science of Mind principles, growing into joyful, healthy individuals and good citizens of the universe.

The curriculum for our teens is based on the principles of Science Of Mind and the application of these principles in their daily lives. Our teens take an active role in their own curriculum; assisting with the development of workshops to address real life issues and may lead the class alongside the adult advisors. Our teens are encouraged to participate in our Center activities and events such as Ushering, Greeters at the Center Welcome Table, and the Season for Peace and Nonviolence.

Our teens have the opportunity to attend the Centers for Spiritual Living’s summer teen camps and winter regional teen camps every year. Teens who attend camp deepen their spiritual practices of affirmative prayer and meditation, and find themselves in an unparalleled environment of peer love and support.

You and/or your teen are welcome to participate in our weekly activities. We look forward to seeing you there!
