Whether just stepping onto the path, or experienced with spiritual life, this class offers the basics of spiritual principles for living life at its deepest and fullest. Over ten weeks, we will explore the foundational ideas of the Science of Mind, learn to participate in Spiritual Practice, and work together with the experiential processes that can become the architecture for a life  well-lived as a Spiritual Being. This class is for everyone, whatever your longer term interests and intentions. It is also the first prerequisite class for entering the educational process of becoming a Licensed Practitioner in Centers for Spiritual Living.

SLCA is excited to announce our new Leadership Development program: RISE with Rev. Dr. David Alexander. RISE is a mulit-disciplinary and wholistic approach to developing the leader within you to rise up to this moment that has called you into being.
RISE Leadership Academy provides you with a full-immersion experience in the consciousness of leadership, and the personal practices that will transform how you approach your work in the world. This course will help you in the following area:
  1. It will help you prepare for next-level challenges and figuring out what you need to learn and experience to be ready. Now is the perfect time to prepare for your next level of success.
  2. It will help you tackle the big changes with new thinking by learning agility and adaptability and personal responsibility.
  3. It is an investment in your future by helping you to stay engaged and to manage yourself (thoughts, emotions, attitudes, and actions) and to work better with others (interpersonal skills, the ability to build and maintain relationships, the ability to build effective work groups, and communication skills, to name a few) — all while operating within the larger system.

SPEAKING CIRCLES® – Feel Comfortable, Confident and Clear Speaking in Groups

Instructor: Eric Atwood, Certified Speaking Circles® Facilitator

Join Eric Atwood for an evening of Speaking Circles® where you will learn to feel more comfortable, confident and clear while speaking in a group.  Eric is the founder and CEO of The Speakers Studio, a company that coaches and trains individuals to be a more effective communicator in all settings – from one-on-one conversations to groups of any size.

In this class, you will learn to:

  • Experience ease and pleasure speaking in front of a group
  • Engage and connect with people through your voice and your presence
  • Listen more effectively so you can get more out of your interactions
  • Let your fears and “masks” naturally disappear when speaking with others
  • Be yourself in all your interactions (without trying to impress others)
  • Feel seen, heard and appreciated when speaking one-on-one and in groups

Speaking Circles is based on the practice of Relational Presence – “being with” people as you’re talking with them.  Whether you have speaking anxiety or simply want to express yourself better, in Speaking Circles you will learn to relax, speak from your heart and connect deeply with others in a very natural, graceful, spontaneous way.

The E2 Club / The Educated Eating Club

The Educated Eating Club meets in a relaxed non-judgmental and supportive environment to discuss issues related to health and nutrition. The Club also focuses on providing valuable tools to help empower individuals to seek a higher level of health through education, awareness, and encouraging personal responsibility regarding food, lifestyle and healthcare choices.

Speak With Presence, Power and Ease as a Practitioner

This Class Is Free For All SLCA Practitioners.

If you are a practitioner at SLCA, and you wish to present confidently from the pulpit – whether delivering a sermon or leading affirmative prayers or emceeing services on Sunday – this is a perfect opportunity for you to learn skills and practices that will engage an entire congregation.

In this half-day experiential workshop, you and your fellow practitioners will learn to:

  • Use the practice of Relational Presence (“being with” people as you speak)
  • Speak spontaneously and speak with prepared content with equal ease and grace
  • Engage and connect with people through your voice and presence (body language)
  • Positively affect the collective dynamic both as a speaker and as an audience member
  • Present part of a sermon and/or other material using practices learned in the class

This informal lunch workshop will commemorate Bebe Moore Campbell Minority Mental Health Month with a book talk by author Osizwe Raena Harwell. Osizwe will share themes and excerpts from her critical biography This Woman’s Work: The Writing and Activism of Bebe Moore Campbell.

The workshop will explore common themes of mental illness, bias, and stigma, along with a look into Bebe Moore Campbell, her personal story, her work, and her legacy. This year’s Lunch and Learn with focus on the spiritual tools of mental health and wellness and self-care tools for individuals and families coping with mental illness.

(http://shutupwrite.com/) was founded in 2007 by Rennie Saunders, a science fiction writer in San Francisco who wanted to take his writing to the next level. His goal was to make a regular habit of writing for one hour a week and also to provide a space for others to do the same.  Feel free to join us at any time
